Project Patchwork was founded by Wendy England – an invisible illness sufferer.

Wendy knew all too well what it was like to feel isolated by conditions out of her control after nearly two decades with Stage 4 Endometriosis, Anxiety and Adenomyosis among others.

She was inspired by her friendships with women online who needed as much emotional support as they did physical. Discovering new friends who could check in with each other every day helped her to feel understood. It was the finding them that was difficult!

Wendy was met with judgement and abuse when she posted about how she felt on Facebook and Instagram – shamed for speaking up. She didn’t want any other woman to have to experience this and set out to build a community built on kindness, support and safety.

Project Patchwork was born from the lack of fun and safe spaces online to meet women who could empathise about life with an invisible illness.
